1035 TORNADOES WERE REPORTED IN US IN 2012

Tornado is a vigorously rotating air that is in contact with both the surface of earth as well as cloud. They are also called Twisters or Cyclones. They are of different shapes and sizes. They have been observed in every continent except Antarctica.

1035 tornadoes have been reported in 2012 in US. Data around world is 1 in Poland,1 in Japan, 5 in Indonesia, 6 in Turkey and 68 in US.

Large number of tornadoes were listed in January 2012. The first Tornado occured in January 22-23 across southern Mississippi Valley and dozens across Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama.

January was stated as third most active behind 1999 and 2008. There were tornadoes observed in February also. It had a slow beginig but later on a massive tornado outbreak in 28 and 29th of February. It was an EF4 type tornado. It killed 8 people in Harrisburg, Illinois. Another activity occured in early March. It was also recorded as largest outbreak with 160 tornadoes. EF2 occured on March 23rd near Louisville,Kentucky. April was also an inactive at starting but then EF2 caused in the city of Arlington. EF3 caused in Texas. May was an active month  with no sever outbreak. June was also calm having few small outbreaks.
